Don't bother the steps explained below.... this is way easier:
convert -delay 0 -loop # (in milliseconds) image1.xxx image2.xxx image3.xxx output_animation.gif
Here follows a way I've discoverd to create a animated gif. There might be a easier way to do it, this is just one method that works for me. (Paintshop pro, for example, has a very easy routine for animated gif's.)
Start with running GIMP. Go to Applications| Graphics| the Gimp, or simply type gimp on the commandline.
2) Open new layer, name it frame 1, rename the default frame"background" to frame0
5) Paste 2nd image on 1st image
6) In the layer menu, highlight the "Floating Selection", right mouse click, choose "Anchor layer"
etc ect ect for each following image......
2) Open new layer, name it frame 3
5) Paste 3rd image on 1st image
6) In the layer menu, highlight the "Floating Selection", right mouse click, choose "Anchor layer"
When your finished with adding images:
7) In the 1st image; file| save as, choose animated gif, set the delay to 400ms and your done! View it with a web browser.
