Creating a simple image from screen

Use the import and convert commands to capture an image and edit it a bit.

Import

Capturing a image is simple:

import my_image.gif You'll see the cursor changed into a cross, just click on your aimed window. It will output a gif file (for this example).
View the image with xv.

Convert

Adding some text:

convert -font helvetica -fill blue -draw "text 50,100 'typing some text...'" old.gif new.gif Provide the text location in pixel cordinates. Find the pixel size from the xv interface by clicking rightmouse button in xv.

Resizing:

convert -resize xxx old.gif new.gif
