Mosacing is done with the following steps:
1) Convert from jpg to ppm
anytopnm file.jpg file.ppm
2) Convert ppm into JHC-format
PCItoJHC -in file.ppm -ppm -out file.JHC
3) Get geographical data from the _Center and _Index file
set LAT = `fgrep file_ImageCenter.txt | awk '{print($4)}'`
set LON = `fgrep file_ImageCenter.txt | awk '{print($5)}'`
set HDG = `fgrep file__ImageIndex.txt | awk '{print($9)}'`
4) Enter header information for georeferencing
edhead file.band2 (*** Note I prefer to use only to the green band (= band2))
Ellipsoid: WGS84
Projection: Rotated mercator
Center lat: LAT
Center lon: LON
Rotation: -HDG (*** Note the negative sign!)
x and y pixel in metres: I choose 1m
Datatype: 8bit
5) Create a line based filter
filterAerial -out the_line.filter *.JHC.band2
6) Apply the filter to each image
diff8bit -first imagefile.JHC.band2 -second the_line.filter -ignore 0 -out imagefile.filtered
7) Patch the image inito an 8bit mapsheet
patchArea -ignore 0 -out the_map_sheet.photo -import imagefile.filtered
I made this
make_8bitimage" script for steps 1 to 4. The remaining steps should be repeated for each image file. An example of a mosaicing script for a complete line is found
here.
