The following images are a comparison of multibeam backscatter collected in 2005/6 with data collected in 2009.

In 2005/6 the data were collected as part of a CHS standard mapping mission with the CCGS Vector using an EM1002 (2°x2°).
In 2009 the data were collected as part of the Sonar Acceptance Trials for the new EM710 (0.5°x1.0°) on the CCGS Vector (using single swath mode).

Watts Point:
This site has clearly had a lot more dumping over the intervening 4 years. There are actually two more surveys that we can use - an NRcan Vector EM1002 mission in March 2004 and OMG Heron EM710 missions 2011 (monthly from 11/2010-09/2011).

Thornborough Channel:
There is no obvious change between these two surveys, but the coverage is not ideal. For the purpose of setting up a monitoring program, I'd consider running a higher density of lines and in orthogonal line orientations,
