There are a few expressions about icebreaking, e.g. "The best way through ice is around it" and "The first rule about icebreaking is not to break ice." Even though icebreakers avoid ice if possible, sometimes it's fun to break it anyway. The large chunk in front of the bow is about to meet its maker.
