Geographic Window

Geographic window
The alternative to editing bathymetric data in stand-alone mode is to edit  the data in geographic mode.  In this mode, an underlying DTM (or other image) is used as a backdrop to the cleaning process.  The ship's track is plotted in green on the image, along with the current set of pings that are being edited (in the main Swathed window).  The main advantage to editing in geograpic mode is that one use the overlap between neighbouring lines of data to investigate questionable soundings.
Geographic sub-area
One can zoom into the mapped area using the mouse to drag a window in the main geographic window.  A sub-area window is then displayed with ship tracks being accessed in the same manner as with the main geographic window (with the middle mouse button).  Spurious features in the DTM can be investigated by selecting (with the middle mouse button) the ship tracks immediately adjacent to the feature.
